About the Artist

… You know, I’m not all that sure I want to talk about myself.  I’ve lived through some not-pretty things, and loved some (who turned out in the end to be) not-pretty people.  I’ve done the best I can with what I have, and in the end I’m trying to be true to my own soul.

So I think I may use this space eventually to post lyrics of songs that I love.  By this you may come to learn more truthfully about me than had I gone on for pages about my history.

For those that crave something a bit more specific, I’ll give you the generalities:  As of the time of this writing, I am 28 years old.  I was born in Texas, and have been raised all over the South in a family that sometimes uncomfortably skated the edge of poverty.  My parents had jobs that brought them some amount of personal satisfaction, but little money and less recognition.  I’m the odd woman out – apparently the only person in my family within 3 generations with any measurable amount of artistic talent in a visual genre.  All I ask of my art is that it keeps my hands busy and amuses me, which it manages with some panache.

I have a fiancée whom I love beyond reason, and a cat that I adore.  I am occasionally misanthropic and introverted.  Most of the time – no matter what I’m actually doing – I’d rather be crocheting.  But I love the fans of my work, and I love hanging out and being with other creative, intelligent, or interesting people.

Talent is a lever long enough (in some cases) to move the world.  All one needs is a solid place to stand.  I’m lucky to have that in my Petra, my Odin, my Eros, my steadfast wise and true anamchara.

I’m not really trying to act like I’m in the middle of some sort of massive and esoteric action here.  I know that my little trifles are just things to amuse.  But the things I make have made a world of difference to *me*, at least, and I’ve been raised up by having this ability in my life.  No matter what else happened to me, I could make something with my hands that didn’t exist until I began it – and that’s been worth the price.
