Ralph Hinkley – The Greatest American Hero – Tribute Doll

This is your webmaster composing the write-up for this doll as it’s a very personal one. The Greatest American Hero was a television show that I connected with in a major way as a kid and so Vox was kind enough to create a doll of the main character from the show for me. William Katt (the actor who played him) actually attended a convention nearby so I was able to actually give him the doll in person as a way of showing my appreciation for both the show and for his work. He loved it and it was an amazing experience to get to meet him. Vox did a wonderful job capturing all the details in the costume. Of special note is the care taken with the logo and with the boots. She even got the soles of them perfect.

Lego Mini-Figure Castle Guard

Now this doll is of particular note. It is a Lego mini-figure (that is actually nearly 1.5′ tall!) This one is of one of the castle guard type. It works nearly exactly like an actual mini-figure. The head, helmet, legs/pants, torso and hands are all removable. The legs even have the holes in both the back and the bottom (though they had to be shifted slightly in back due to limitations in the material). Also the hands had to be modified as you can see from the pictures but it still captures the same look and feel as the original mini-figure.

Chihuahua and Toys

The Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog and is so named for the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. Chihuahuas come in a wide variety of sizes, head shapes, colors and coat lengths.

Hares and jackrabbits are leporids belonging to the genus Lepus. Hares less than one year old are called leverets. Four species commonly known as types of hare are classified outside of Lepus: the hispid hare (Caprolagus hispidus), and three species known as red rock hares (Pronolagus spp.).

Origami Crane

Yes this really is a giant crocheted origami crane! =D It was yet another wedding gift for some friends. To give you an idea of just how big it is, its wingspan is 30 inches.

Due to quite a bit of interest, the pattern for the Manatee (sans hat) is available!

Manatees are large, fully aquatic, mostly herbivorous marine mammals sometimes known as sea cows. There are three accepted living species of Trichechidae, representing three of the four living species in the order Sirenia: the Amazonian manatee, the West Indian manatee, and the West African manatee). They measure up to 13 feet/4 meters long, weigh as much as 1300 pounds/600 kilograms, and have paddle-like flippers. The name manatí comes from the Taíno, a Pre-Columbian people of the Caribbean, meaning “breast”.

This was a commission piece done of the original character of Spotweld the hyena. The pattern is my creation but the character design is, of course, the property of the client.

Of particular note are the design of the legs and the attention to detail with regards to the body spots. His outfit consists of a bomber jacket, white tshirt and kilt. The clothing is all created separete from the doll and is completely removable.
